Facebook is such a bloody incredibly powerful communications tool- no doubt about it, and the Facebook Ads capabilities are the bee’s bloody knees. Apologies for my semi-profanity (oh I have so much more in my arsenal, alas) but when a tool seems to be created with the sole purpose of making a communications geek’s life easier, a semi-profanity is the only adjective option. Basically, I think Facebook ads are an essential tool for any small business. Yes, I know social media is all about engagement, not selling. However, how awesome is it that we have access to our dream client, right down the postcode, and targeted campaigns are insanely easy to implement?
First up, may I just say I don’t consider myself a Facebook Ads expert or specialist, and there are some fantastic communications advisors who specialise in this stuff. However, I’ve ran some really successful campaigns for both myself and clients, and the three key factors below (plus one wee bonus, ‘cos I loves ya) are the guidelines I use.
1- Know your purpose- use your ads strategically and with purpose. Is your goal to have people sign up for an event, join a list or cough up cash for a particular product or service?
2- Know your audience- the more specific, the better.
3- Know your insights- when your followers are on the platform.
4- Create a custom audience for your ad that matches the above. A feature that I really love is Lookalike- here you import your mailing list, keeping in mind that people on your list may not necessarily follow you on Facebook, and Facebook will find people who are similar to those on your list. You can also retarget so your ad will appear to people who have already visited your website.
Easy peasy! Even an ad spend of less than $50 can have an incredible impact, and quite staggering ROI- so please, have a play around with a Facebook ad campaign that’s targeted and purposeful, of course, and let me know how you go. Of course, if you’d like to bounce around some ideas, or want some simple tweaks and adjustments to your online communications I’m your gal. Give me a buzz!
