Blue 51 Writing Retreat

Dates:

Friday 12 August 10am

Sunday 14 August 2pm

Want some uninterrupted writing time, a chance to focus on your writing without the blah blah blah of daily life? Want to drink coffee (and wine; let’s not forget the wine!) and take in an ocean view while reflecting, planning and writing? Want lots of sitting-on-bum time mixed with some get-that-fresh-air-into-me time?

You need a writing retreat, stat!

I’m talking two nights, three days in a gorgeous beach house 90 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, with lots of space to spread out as well as come together. Imagine a ton of writing, reading, fabulous food, wonderful people, relaxing, walking on the beach, more writing, laughing til you cry, ocean views and more writing – as well as your favourite Word Nerd aka me completely at your beck and call, be it for your writing or to hand feed you another chocolate-dipped strawberry.

This is for you if:

You want time and space to write – away from the day to day of work, life and family, the opportunity to just drop everything and focus on your work, knowing that you have access to someone with writerly eyes to take a squizz and give some actionable feedback.

You’re a writer who needs structure- this writing retreat has an agenda that will make you clutch your pearls and swoon with the sheer productivity and get-shit-done-itis BUT also with lots of down time thrown in. Taking breaks, especially in the bracing coastal air, will up level your productivity and creativity like nobody’s business. Balance, am I right?

You want to knock off something specific- your projects have been sitting on the to-do list mocking you for longer than is comfortable and you know that the public accountability of writing with others will keep you on track and motivated.

This retreat is about setting goals and working to achieve them, with my support and that of your fellow writers. It’s about the space and mental clarity to both get it done, and get it done well. And did I mention there’s wine?

How it works:

At the core this writing retreat offers dedicated writing time in a supportive, focussed environment fuelled by great food. Similar to my Write Here Right Now and Band of Batchers writing sessions, we’ll batch write a ton of content through word sprints sandwiched between brief scheduled discussions designed to generate solutions to writing hiccups, develop drafts, set goals, provide market research from your fellow writers and get feedback on your writing in progress. It includes individual writing and communications guidance from me, some fun games, exercises and challenges and maybe even some prizes for when you smash your writing goals.

You’ll come ready to rock with with some prework to help you set achievable goals and spark your creativity and I’ll provide specialist support to get the words flowing throughout the retreat. Every writer will have solo 1:1 time with me scheduled into the agenda to go over your work and to nut out any challenges as to how it aligns to your broader communications or branding goals.

The retreat is limited to 6 participants so I can give you personal, 100% practical support and feedback against your writing, as you’re writing AND keep you fed and watered. We’ll finish each day with bubbles to celebrate an intensive yet super-productive day’s work knocking over your writing projects.
